Rooted in Empowering the Next Generation of Indigenous Artists

The

lyndon

foundation

The Lyndon Foundation is a nonprofit foundation dedicated to retaining the traditional Navajo Silversmithing skills by increasing the next generation of silversmithing artisans.

It is crucial to create pathways to transfer the knowledge of silversmithing to future generations of Native artisans to help them explore artistic and career pathways.

OUR PURPOSE

1

Preserve Navajo Silversmithing for Future Generations

The Navajo and Indigenous Youth are our primary benefactors for creating this foundation. We will connect generationally trained Navajo Silversmiths to Navajo and Indigenous youth to learn the silversmith artistry.

OUR GOALS

2

Connecting Generationally Trained Navajo Silversmiths

Navajo Silversmithing is in dire need of preservation.  Most vetted silversmiths are trained within families from parent to child. Due to the current state of Navajo Nation and other indigenous communities these connections are dying out. We must create pathways to carry our knowledge to future generations of Navajo Silversmiths.

3

Creating a Non-Profit to Last Many Generations to Come

There are currently no private Navajo silversmithing nonprofit programs that are dedicated to preservation of the Navajo art of silversmithing.
